Keith Hickey, of MFUSA.com and Goal.com, returns to the "Unnamed Philadelphia Union Podcast" (Up & Up). He hosts the sixth episode "Up & Up" with Scott Kessler, of BrotherlyGame.com and philly.sbnation.com.
This episode of "Up & Up" discusses the upcoming MLS season. Hickey and Kessler talk about the trials and tribulations that the Union will face as they make a push for the MLS Playoffs (and possibly the MLS Cup).
We discuss the key additions to the Union, the loss of Michael Orozco-Fiscal, bringing in Taylor Twellman and Bob Rigby for the television broadcasts, along with moving most of the team's games to Comcast owned channels.
This episode is the longest in the short history of "Up & Up" at 38 minutes long. It should be thorough enough to serve as a 2011 MLS season primer for the Union.
Enjoy.

Scott Kessler, of BrotherlyGame.com and philly.sbnation.com, hosts the fifth episode of the "Unnamed Philadelphia Union Podcast" on the Philadelphia Union and soccer.
This episode of "Up & Up" is the first that features a former MLS player.
The interview is with Jared Montz, a former MLS player with the Chicago Fire. Montz has a very interesting story when it comes to both his playing career and his post playing career.
Like many soccer players in the US, Montz had to fight his way through the structure of the soccer pyramid. Though he started in MLS, injuries and things completely out of his hands steadily kept him from returning to the league when he left it.
Since retiring from soccer, Montz has been an active participant in charity and also has started his own online soccer academy company.

Scott Kessler, of BrotherlyGame.com and philly.sbnation.com, hosts the fourth episode of the "Unnamed Philadelphia Union Podcast" on the Philadelphia Union and soccer.
This episode of "Up & Up" is split into two parts.
The first portion of the interview with the Philadelphia Daily News', and Philly.com's, Kerith Gabriel deals with a lot of topics that I discussed with MLSsoccer.com and CSNPhilly.com writer Dave Zeitlin.
We talked about how Gabriel has found himself far and away the most active Union reporter in the Colombian transfer rumors. Another major piece of discussion was the debacle with the MLS schedule, which comes out at some point today (2-10-2011).
Part two will be published later this week and includes talk about

Scott Kessler, of BrotherlyGame.com and philly.sbnation.com, hosts the third episode of the "Unnamed Philadelphia Union Podcast" on the Philadelphia Union and soccer.
For episode three I talked to Dave Zeitlin, of MLSsoccer.com and CSNPhilly.com, about the Philadelphia Union's rather dizzying offseason.
We began by discussing the drafting of Zac MacMath fifth overall in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft. As for most people who follow the Union, Zeitlin was slightly surprised by the selection of MacMath but says he saw the move as a possibility back in early January.
Diego Gutierrez came up a bit, as did Maryland goalkeepers. We had a short conversation about Jeremiah White and Jorge Perlaza that led into speculation about the rest of the offseason. Hint: continue to watch for news from Colombian media.

Scott Kessler, of BrotherlyGame.com and philly.sbnation.com, hosts the second episode of the "Unnamed Philadelphia Union Podcast" on the Philadelphia Union and soccer.
For episode two I was able to chat with UMBC soccer head coach Pete Caringi. UMBC should sound familiar to Union fans because third round SuperDraft pick Levi Houapeu attended and played at the school for four years.
Caringi and I spent time discussing Houapeu, UMBC and soccer in the Baltimore area. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to do this episode with Caringi, who is a soccer legend in the Baltimore/Maryland area. Could not have asked for a better interviewee or a more helpful person. A big thank you to Pete.
Despite the success of the UMBC program over the years, especially last year when Houapeu had his second straight 15-goal season, UMBC is not recognized by casual observers of NCAA soccer. Caringi discussed that fact and how UMBC faced the 25th hardest schedule, based on RPI, in 2010.
As much as I wish I could say I'm knowledgeable on Houapeu after devoting plenty of time on researching him over the past month, I can't. I'm sure, like myself, most of you want to know more about the talent midfielder/forward out of the Ivory coast. Things like his strengths, his ability to transition to the MLS and his citizenship, along with a lot more, were talked about in this episode of the podcast.

Keith Hickey, of Goal.com and MFUSA.com, and Scott Kessler, of BrotherlyGame.com and philly.sbnation.com, host the first ever episode of a currently unnamed podcast on the Philadelphia Union and soccer.
Last night Keith Hickey and I sat down to create the first episode of our new Philadelphia Union and soccer podcast. We covered subjects like the new Bimbo sponsorship of the Union, the 2011 MLS SuperDraft and possible incoming signings this week.
Keith and I agreed that the draft overall went well, despite the initial head scratcher selection of Zac MacMath with the fifth overall pick in the draft. We had a conversation about the reaction to Bimbo's sponsorship and how it may affect the Union in the future. Then we discussed rumored additions to the Union and how they will help the Union in 2011.
